Breakdowns take the stress out of studying by simplifying complex material and pointing you straight to what's most important. With documents that automatically update as new information becomes available, and smart highlights that draw your attention to the topics most likely to show up on the exam, you can study more efficiently and confidently. Instead of wasting time guessing what to focus on, the breakdowns guide your prep so you're always one step ahead.
Yes, the breakdowns serve as a reliable and effective guide for both exams, helping students navigate the material with a clear structure and focus. They provide a solid foundation for study, outlining key topics and concepts likely to appear on the tests. Once the official bibliography is released, the breakdowns will be carefully reviewed and updated to ensure complete alignment with the most current and relevant sources. This ensures that students are always working with the most accurate and up to date information during their exam preparation.

The tentative promotional exam bibliography includes study material that may be tested with or without reference material.
- If an entire document is to be tested without references (also known as “know cold”), it will state this clearly.
Example: For lofts, the document may say: “firefighter procedures - place of worship should be tested without reference.”
- Some documents use blue columns to show what content must be known cold versus what can be referenced during the exam.
Example: “if the left-hand column is shaded blue, that indicates the material in that section may be tested without reference material”.
Highlights are used to draw attention to key points. They help students focus on the most important information.
TQ stands for “Test Questions.” These are the items most likely to appear on the exam, as noted in the columns on the breakdown.
